Audrey Rogers with TriTech Software Systems training officers how to use the new records management software.
For several weeks, personnel with the Collierville Police Department have been going through training to utilize the Inform Records Management System (RMS) to more easily and efficiently manage records and reports.
The new software has been made available with funding from the Shelby County 911 Board. The Collierville Police Department requested allocation of $885,000 from the Shelby County 911 Board to purchase the system which means the citizens will not bear the cost for the software. "The implementation of this new technology will allow the Collierville Police Department to keep more officers on patrol because our reports can be processed more efficiently. The new system will also enable officers to quickly search records thus increasing responsiveness and the mobility of our force," Chief Larry Goodwin stated.
The Inform RMS Software, a product provided by TriTech Software Systems, provides officers the ability to process the entry of records in the patrol car utilizing laptops. This technology will provide officers with fast access to pertinent information for making quick and effective decisions. Because officers will experience reduced time required to log in incident reports, they will be able to remain in the field on patrol for longer times.
Two Senior Business Analysts, Audrey Rogers and Patty Nichols, trainers with Tri-Tech, have been in Collierville conducting the training sessions. Training will continue for statistical data input of records, case management, jail management, and evidence management. Within the next year, officers will have the ability to input data in the patrol vehicles and can also access violations and information from area Police departments. Additionally, Inform RMS will also aid in management of law records related to subjects or criminal activity and can capture and view images related to crime scenes and line-ups.
Other items coming later in the year revolve around new dispatch software called Inform Computer Aided Dispatching, False Alarm tracking as well as interfaces to the Fire Department reporting systems.
