Support Services

Members of the Collierville Police Department’s Special Citizen Volunteer Program will be delivering informational packets to residents in the areas recently annexed by Collierville.  The informational booklets provide useful information including department services, department forms, as well as contact information for the department divisions and other local resources.  Click here for a web-based version of the booklet.

The Collierville Police Department is excited to announce that we are improving our communication capabilities to our citizens.

As you know, we have been using Nixle to send community alerts. In the past, Nixle has been a free service. Unfortunately, Nixle has recently decided to charge an unreasonable fee to continue the service.

As an alternative, we’ve decided to partner with tip411.

Tip411 gives us upgraded functionality in terms of how we target our community alerts. It also enables us to save time by having information automatically made available on our social media sites, Facebook, Twitter and our department’s website. And finally, the addition of inbound anonymous tips helps citizens take part in helping to reduce crime.

Assistant Chief David Hamric's retirement in June from the Collierville Police Department created a vacancy and necessitated a promotional process for the rank.  The department recently conducted this process for the vacated position and announced the successful candidate.  On August 2, 2010, Captain David Tillner was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief.  We congratulate Captain Tillner on this accomplishment.

siren1Outdoor Warning System

Town of Collierville Outdoor Warning Sirens Operations Protocol
When the Warning Sirens Will Be Activated

Upon receiving notification from reliable sources that the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Shelby County, TN, or that a tornado has been sighted in the Collierville area, the Collierville Police Dispatch center peronnel will immediately activate the outdoor warning siren system.

The Outdoor Warning Siren System will be activated each time an additional tornado warning for Shelby County, TN is issued by the National Weather Service during a weather event.

How long do the warning sirens stay activated?
Once activated, the outdoor warning sirens will automatically cycle through a series of audio messages and siren tones for 15 minutes. Should the National Weather Service terminate the tornado warning for Shelby County, TN during the 15-minute alert cycle, police dispatch personnel will abort the warning sirens.

When are the warning sirens tested?
The Outdoor Warning Siren System will be tested every Saturday at noon. These tests will be an audible test of the entire siren system and will consist of a signal that is steady and continuous for 1 minute.

Note: At no time will the sirens be tested during inclement weather conditions.
