The Support Services Division is comprised of the Communication Unit and Jail Unit.
Division Command Staff
The Communication Unit is the nerve center for all emergency services for the Town of Collierville. This is where all emergency and non-emergency calls in the Town of Collierville are received and processed. The dispatch center has 2 dedicated 911 trunk lines and 5 non-emergency lines for the Police Department, Fire Department, EMS and Emergency Management. There are 16 dispatchers assigned to the Dispatch Center. There are 4 consoles that has access to the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Animal Control, Code Enforcement and Emergency Management, along with the Memphis Police and Fire Departments, Shelby County Sheriff's and Fire Departments, Germantown Police and Fire Departments, Marshall County Sheriff's and Fire Department, Fayette County Sheriff's and Fire Department, Piperton Police and Fire Department, Bartlett Police and Fire Department, Hospital Wing and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The dispatchers also have access to the National Crime Information Center, Shelby County Jail Management System, along with the Police Department Incident Reporting System. The dispatchers are responsible for the outdoor warning sirens stationed around town.
The current dispatch center was opened on August 20, 2003.
The Collierville Police Department operates a Type 2 "Temporary Holding Facility", which accepts and detains inmates in accordance with regulations of the Tennessee Corrections Institute. The Jail provides for the booking, detention, welfare and supervision of persons arrested for both felony and misdemeanor crimes. The goal of this unit is to provide services that insure the safe and secure detention of inmates pending their transportation to the Shelby County Jail or another facility. The focus of the facility is to maintain compliance with all regulatory legislation authorities.
The Jail can house up to 64 inmates, operates 24 hours a day and is staffed by 13 full-time Jailers. On the male side of the facility, there is 8 beds and also a detention cell. The female side has 4 beds and also a detention cell. The Jailers are professionally trained and have successfully completed several courses that are certified by the Tennessee Corrections Institute. Jailers receive current and continued training consisting of all aspects of corrections and first aide. The Jailers are primarily responsible for completing the booking process of arrestees, including searching, fingerprinting and photographing each arrestee. The arrestees undergo a medical and mental screening prior to being housed in a cell. They are fed and continually monitored to ensure their care, safety and well being.
The Collierville Police Department's Jail is inspected annually by the Tennessee Corrections Institute, to ensure that it is in compliance with all the current standards.
